When Blacky was sighted
Years after his disappearance from entertainment scene, talented reggae musician, Blacky was spotted again. Nya Edward Inyang stormed the Nigeria musical scene years back and he left an indelible mark in the heart of reggae lovers; his distinct dancing prowess stood him out from his peers.
Blackky, who was recently sighted at just concluded City People Award was clad in a black round neck and a black trouser, but for his carriage and charisma he would have passed for an ordinary guest.
A graduate of sociology from University of Lagos, Blackky who started his musical career as a Dj in 1986 got his break in 1990 when he contested and won the Lekki Sunsplash Talent Hunt contest which gave him a record deal with then Polygram Reports.
In 1991, he released his debut album About Tyme which had hit songs like Rosie, Blackky Skank and Sugar Stick .Between 1991 and 2009,he released over 6 albums and won several accolades.
He had stated in an interview that piracy had been responsible for his long absence from the music scene, “I haven’t released an album in like close to seven, eight years. The last album I released was the Reggae Icon album”. Buttressing his point, he added “I also noticed that the income stream for music has become so frustrating, no record companies, every artiste is just hustling on their own to make some sense of their music”
As a student, he was a regular “face” in concerts usually at the popular Lekki Beach during festive periods of Christmas and Easters
