Baba Sala at 80


 
On Monday, veteran comic act, Moses Olaiya popularly known as "Baba Sala" clocked 80.

A native of Ilesha, he was born, May 18,1935. Baba Sala who is regarded as father of modern Nigerian comedy popularized theater and television theatre in Nigeria. He started with other dramatists like Hubert Ogupinde, Kola Ogunmola,Oyin Adejobi and Duro Ladipo

A prolific filmmaker, Baba Sala began his entertainment career in show business as a Highlife musicial group known as the Federal Rhythm Dandies in 1964.He tutored and guided the jùjú music maestro King Sunny Adé who was his lead guitar player.
